Green Building Initiatives

Hines and 321 North Clark are committed to improving our building’s environmental impact. 321 North Clark has been Energy Star certified since 2007 and has maintained LEED Gold status since 2011. Additional building recycling initiatives include light bulb recycling, mercury reduction through non-mercury or low mercury lamp purchasing, and landscape waste composting. The building seeks to use the most sustainable options in green cleaning; including using green friendly paper products such as recycled content and coreless toilet paper and 60% recycled fiber paper towels.

321 North Clark Tenant Recycling Programs

Cardboard / Paperboard

Flattened cardboard meant to be recycled should be marked with an orange ‘Throw Away’ sticker. Stickers can be obtained from the building management office.

Electronics

Unwanted electronic items should be marked with an orange ‘Throw Away’ sticker and placed in the freight elevator lobby on your office’s floor. For large quantities, contact the building management office to arrange for a pick-up. Click Here for accepted items.

Ink and Toner

Used ink and toner cartridges should be marked with an orange ‘Throw Away’ sticker and placed in the freight elevator lobby of your office’s floor.

Compost / Organics

Organic material such as food waste, floral, used coffee filters and grounds, and soiled paper goods (tissues, paper towels, napkins, and uncoated take out containers) can be composted.

Battery

Batteries can be recycled in the freight elevator lobby vestibule located in the building’s main lobby. The blue battery collection tube is located in the west side of the vestibule.

Paper / Mail / Newspaper

Paper recycling collection bins are provided desk side or in a designated large bin in your suite.

Glass / Plastic / Metal

Glass, plastic (numbers 1 – 5 and 7 only), and metal are collected in a single collection container within your suite.

Green Events

Each year, 321 North Clark celebrates green initiatives on both Earth Day, held on April 22nd, and America Recycles Day on November 15th. Information about annual events will be disseminated prior to the date of the event. Past events have included paper shredding and office supply collection drives.
